Love Is A Jar…

 Home Made Jar of Love….

This is a gift I made for my boyfriend and was very inexpensive! I only spent about $20 dollars, and the supplies can be purchased at your local craft store!

love jar

All you need is a glass jar with lid, decorative scrap book paper, stickers, peel off quotes, x-acto knife, ruler, and about 300 asst card stock paper approximately half the size of a 3×5 card. I had to purchase larger stock paper and cut it in half.

Next you want to measure the jar and cut off excess paper to line the jar with. I also used a small border piece along the bottom of the jar. I chose a pattern that coordinated with the stickers I chose.

You then add your peel off quotes, and stickers wherever you feel is eye pleasing!

decorate jar lid

I had some key stickers in my scrap book supplies, and peel off labels, which I added to the lid for some extra embellishing, along with a piece of ribbon I had left over!

You can add some little extra decorative stickers and decorate as you wish.

love quote cards

Next you will need to work on the cards…

quotes of love

I purchased a silver gel pen to write on the darker cards, but you basically just need to find a lot of quotes, poems, and memories you want to share with your loved one.

fill love jar with quotes

Fold all your cards in half and fill up the jar!! You may want to mix up the colors to look a little balanced within the jar, but it is up to you!

The finished product should resemble something like this…

Pop the lid on and present it to the person you love!

Valentine’s Day love coupons

If you are trying to think of a good gift to give this Valentine’s Day, but are financially crunched home made love coupons are a great way to say I Love You.

It doesn’t require a lot of money, and taking the time to find materials, lay them out, and include personalized favors for someone, is more heart felt than a card or chocolates.

I had all the items I needed to create these in my home, but I am a collector of random stationary items including scrap book materials. So you may need to run out to a craft store.

I used 1 full size scrap book sheet and folded it in half. Then divided the height evenly into three rows kind of like you would fold a letter. I cut the three rows apart leaving one folded to be the the coupon book cover. I cut the other two rows at their folds and ended up with 6 coupons to place in the coupon book cover.

I used sticker letters to include cute little captions on the front and then placed decorative stickers around to make them pretty.

On the opposite sides I included a description of what the cute captions on front entailed. You can be funny and creative with this like Limited Guarantee, Exp…never, etc.

Then I used little mini clothes pins that came with cardboard heart handles  and closed the love coupon book to be opened later…

There are also free coupon templates online that you can print out if you don’t feel creative enough to tackle this project. All in all it took me a few hours to assess my letter sticker ratios and available terms, then peel individually and place in a visually appealing array. If I had gone to purchase items with this intention, I would of stocked up on the letters, and my project time would have been cut in half.

Happy Valentine’s Day
